About
James is an award-winning director and writer, developing several short film projects with the TROIKA FILM COLLECTIVE and is currently working with VAPORETTO FILMS on his latest film ADONIS.
James holds a first-class degree from the UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER in Contemporary Media Practice and is an alumx of the LONDON FILM ACADEMY.
ABOUT FACE (2023) co-written by James, received the BEST FILM AWARD, AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD at the Ximagine Film Festival before heading to FILMAPALOOZA Lisbon.
His short films, IN BATTLE (European premiere in Amsterdam at LAB 111 and LGBTQIA+ Loudest Whispers Festival, Norwich International Queer Film Festival), and SILVER LINING have both gone on to garner nominations and selections at Film Festivals across the world. The Portuguese short, CAMINHO (based on The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost) was selected for Best Experimental Short, at Onyko Awards. Experimental Dance Film, PARALLAX POINT opened the Screen Dance section of Leeds International Film Festival.
Theatre and performance direction work has ranged from musicals, theatre and dance work across the UK, New York, the UAE and Europe.
James most recently directed PETER PAN on the QE2, Dubai and directed the World premiere of BESS THE OTHER HOUDINI – a new play about the tumultuous life of Houdini’s widow at The Gatehouse in 2023. His new play FEMME DE CIRQUE was performed by drama students and will be staged again in July.
James teaches Acting, Creative Professional Practice, Devising at various institutions Aberdeen Academy of Performing Arts; ROM Theatre Arts; The Orchard Theatre; Pivotal Associate Days; Dubai Performing Arts and The University of Westminster.
