About
I am an interdisciplinary artist working across film, theatre, writing, photography, and sculpture.
My work explores the themes of human connection, empathy, and queer identity. I am deeply drawn to the concept of liveness as a form of experience and the transience of coastal environments. For me, the sea reflects the fluid, ever-changing nature of human experience.
I combine my training and work in theatre with moving image, text and objects to create immersive exhibitions, film and live art. I build spaces for connection. My goal is to invite audiences to slow down and sit with the fleeting moments that connect us all.
James also works as a theatre director across musical theatre, drama, and new writing. He is currently part of The Mercury Creative Directors programme.
